Selfish shellfish!

You want me to do things

The way you want

I wonder, are you not selfish?

But I don't want to do things

In your way, but the way I want to

I wonder, am I not selfish?

You work for my betterment

You sideline your personal wishes

So I can excel,

But that's because I 'belong' to you

So again, are you not selfish?

And when I work for others,

I work so that they can be happy

Or so that I find happiness through them

But finally, I help because they are mine, my friends, my family

So again -I, me and mine

Then, am I not selfish?

The young shellfish told so to everyone around

That's when all the wise shellfish said,

"If we weren't selfish, we wouldn’t survive as shellfish
